Updating Procedures
Every 28 days Instrument Approach Procedures are updated, and every 56 days the IFR Enroute Charts and the A/FD may be updated by the FAA. To keep you library current all you have to do is nothing. When the cycle changes ATP will download new directory files from the databases where it is appropriate.
When you use a procedure from your library cache the system knows if it was from a previous cycle and will download the new version and replace the older one. This should be totally transparent to you except you will see the progress bar move as the new version is downloaded. If you are not connected to the internet the system will default to the procedure from the previous cycle. If you prefer to update you entire library at one time you can right click on the States folder and select Refresh Database from the popup menu. You will need to do the IFR and VFR databases separately.
NACO makes the new cycle, of it's database of IFR procedures, available in advance of the expiration of the current cycle. If you check the Check for new edition check box in the Explorer window, each time the system is loaded, and 10 days prior to the new cycle being available, ATP will check to see if there is a newer database and, if so, give you the option to upgrade to it.
The AOPA database has no specific update cycle and will be updated by the ATP system every 28 days regardless if the files have changed or not.
